The project comprised the conversion of a redundant 55 bedroom nursing home into a five star 25 unit assisted living apartment block with a 24 hour concierge service for the residents.

The original redundant timber framed 3-storey building was stripped of most internal wall and ceiling finishes and all internal mechanical and electrical installations. Temporary fire alarms and fire compartmentation were installed to satisfy regulations whilst the strip out and reconfiguration of the timber building was undertaken.

New timber partitions were erected to provide one and two bedroom spacious apartments, each with their own high quality kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. Full mechanical and electrical services, including a nurse call and CCTV, were installed throughout the building.

Each apartment was provided with an external balcony or terrace, thus providing outdoor space to each of the units, with a new glazed screen installed to each matching the existing windows and providing access and views over the landscaped gardens.

The Fire Strategy required the installation of extensive sound and fire protection between party walls and each floor level. The fully addressable fire alarm providing the ability to graduate the evacuation process to suit the location of the fire.

Ancillary rooms include a restaurant and lounge area, a shop and library, each with high quality joinery finishes. An assisted bathroom, a spa, a gym and launderette are available for residents. The property also includes a full commercial kitchen, offices, a staffroom and ample storage for the management team.
