This Project required a carefully managed programme of roof and external façade repairs at St Mary’s Church.
The works focused on the sensitive repair and renewal of key elements of the historic building envelope, including roof tiles, selected roof coverings, leadwork, rainwater goods and fascia boarding.
Specialist masonry and stone repairs were carried out alongside masonry cleaning, with works designed to conserve the existing fabric while improving the long term condition and appearance of the church.
Internally the Church, had suffered from water damage. Our works included replastering and redecorating using cherry pickers to access the ceilings which, at their tallest, are around 50ft high. We also repaired various areas internally including the baptism font and some stained glass windows.
The project involved the erection of extensive scaffolding within a public area, planned and managed to protect the public, maintain safe access and minimise disruption to the Nursery at the back and the Church activities.
