Two Classrooms at St Margarets were suffering from structural defects. We were tasked with providing a temporary support structure to enable the elevation to be removed complete, provision of new foundations and structure and a new aluminium window system. Much of the works were undertaken while the school remained in operation. We worked closely with the architect and structural engineer to provide a solution to support the roof.
A steel frame was installed together with new insulated cavity walls and a modern K glass system of windows and doors. This Glass reflects excessive heat away from the classroom with winders for the upper windows and safety restrictors on the lower windows. Cedre lap cladding was fitted between the windows and the roof.
Each classroom was completely refurbished with new lighting, increased fire detection in the roof space and new motion activated floodlights fitted outside The opportunity arose to upgrade the old existing kitchen areas and provide new certified fire doors to the classrooms, together with improved fire separation.
