Refurbishment of Caer Gwent Residential Home, Worthing

This fast-track negotiated project was the refurbishment and alteration of half of a residential care home, upgrading facilities to provide luxury accommodation for the elderly.
Enabling works, involving the installation of assisted bathrooms, offices and the provision of services for a temporary kitchen, were undertaken whilst the design of the main works was completed. This allowed the client to maintain their services
throughout the period of the construction work. The refurbishment comprised the up-grading of all facilities throughout the ground and first floors of the East Wing of the building. Demolitions were undertaken, removing asbestos and reconfiguring several partitions to provide a new floor plan with wider corridors, larger bedrooms and a more open plan feel to the building. Services were stripped out and completely renewed in this section of the property.
High quality finishes were applied throughout with full ceramic tiling to the en-suites and with wall papering to the corridors and feature walls in the bedrooms. Two high quality 2-bedroom self-contained flats were incorporated into the project to service the upper end of this market.
The client engaged specialist contractors to install the new kitchen, fit carpets and install furniture, all having access made available during the final stages of the construction project.
