The demolition of the existing gymnasium  to make way for the construction of new sports facilities, comprising a large sports hall, student and teacher changing rooms, 1st floor cafeteria, student  lounge, and dance studio. The building is a steel portal frame structure with load bearing masonry walls to some low level areas. Externally the building has low level brick facework with cedar cladding to soften the visual impact of the development on the neighbourhood. Internally the sports hall has a sprung timber floor with a wet under-floor heating system maintaining a low ambient temperature throughout the autumn and winter.
